Our wellbeing is always at the forefront of our New Year’s goals, in fact, recent YouGov research found that the most common New Year’s resolutions for Brits were all focused on wellbeing, with getting more exercise , improve diet and lose weight in the top three.
However, if you’ve tried forest bathing, done every HIIT workout you can muster, and spent most of 2023 trying to ditch sugar, you might be on the lookout for some new wellness trends to test them. course
Luckily, Specscart’s Danielle Pates, MD, has analyzed Google Trend data to find the top wellness trends for 2024, including everything from sound baths to ditching caffeine.
Here are the trends we should consider adding to our list of resolutions this year:
1. Virtual trainings: 396% increase.
While pandemic lockdowns gave us a taste of what virtual workouts could entail (thanks, Joe Wicks), brands like Peleton have boosted the popularity of virtual workouts you can do from your living room, so stay tuned let it be a big trend in 2024. .
“As the work-from-home movement continues, much of the UK is looking at ways to elevate their home with dedicated spaces where they can live, work and exercise,” says Pates.
“Virtual workouts allow participants to integrate their wellness routine into their daily lives, providing ongoing flexibility.”

If buying a Peleton bike is a little out of your price range, consider the abundance of free home workouts available on YouTube, where you can find everything from dancing to pilates.
2. CBD Health: 380% increase.
Think CBD is code for getting high? think again “Cannabidiol is extracted from the cannabis plant and diluted with oils such as hemp seed or coconut oil,” explains Pates. “CBD does not contain THC, the cannabinoid found in cannabis that creates the ‘high’ feeling. Therefore, it is not psychoactive in any way.”
Studies have shown that CBD can reduce stress and chronic pain, and it also has several soothing properties that can help people with skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, so CBD oil could be a good product to incorporate into your 2024 wellness routine.

3. Strength training – 315% increase.
Strength training has been steadily gaining popularity over the past decade thanks to the benefits it brings, but it’s set to skyrocket in 2024.
“Much of the UK is taking part in fitness routines to take advantage of their health benefits, not just the physical changes they can bring,” says Pates. “Strength training works to increase bone density and cardiovascular health. It can improve sleep, support mental well-being, and of course, improve muscle.”
4. No alcohol – 260% increase.
Recent statistics found that 20% of British adults do not drink alcohol at all, and this figure is set to rise over the next year as more people become ‘sober curious’.

“One-third of Gen Z say they never drink alcohol. This number will increase as they trade after-work drinks for gym sessions,” adds Pates.
5. No caffeine – 236% increase.
Along with alcohol, there will be an increase in people ditching their daily coffees as more people go decaffeinated by 2024.
“Caffeine is a diuretic, it robs the body of moisture,” explains Pates. “Abundant amounts of caffeine can even cause blurred vision or eye twitching. Eliminating caffeine from your diet can help your body better absorb micronutrients like calcium, iron, and vitamins B. Consuming caffeine up to six hours before bed can have a big impact on your sleep cycle.”
6. Sustainable gyms – 195% increase.
Why go to a regular gym when you can go to a sustainable gym? “A sustainable gym works to use energy-efficient equipment, renewable energy, non-toxic cleaning products, while reducing its water consumption,” explains Pates.
“A 195.22% increase in the search term sustainable gym shows that the UK is looking for ways to adopt green practices in all aspects of their lives, including the gym.”

7. Sound baths – 153% increase
Like meditation before it, sound baths are a trend that will become increasingly popular in the coming year as people put mental well-being first.
“Sound baths see participants surrounded by sound produced by instruments that are tuned to specific frequencies,” explains Pates. “This stimulates alpha brain waves that lead to creativity and theta brain waves that work with our learning and memory.”
