Texas Live is known for fun, food, drinks and music. Now, they’re adding something extra through the official cannabis partner whose name appears on the building.
CBD Kratom has eight stores in the Dallas area. It is an independently owned cannabis company. The company has been doing a lot of advertising and promotions at Texas Live.
For the first time, the company will only sell some CBD products at select events.
“These are a lot of the types of products we’ll be featuring at Texas Live,” CBD Kratom COO Jason Brandl said as he showed off some of the products. “CBD Candies, Candies, Gummies.”
Other products such as Kratom, which is an evergreen tropical leaf from the coffee family, and other products will not be sold on the site at this time.
“We decided to try selling at these events instead of just giving out merchandise or free items,” Brandl said. “So for starters, we’re going to be selling CBD products. So our lollipops, gummies, different things like that, CBD infused, candies.”
Seeing the logos and hearing CBD and cannabis may raise the question of whether it is legal.
A 2018 federal bill and a Texas state law passed in 2019 legalize the cultivation of hemp and the sale and possession of hemp-derived CBD oil that contains less than 0.3% THC, which is the compound which produces a “high” in marijuana.
Brandl said his products are lab-tested to be within legal limits. But consumers should be cautious.
“Certainly, we have some products that would have what we call a psychotropic effect,” Brandl said. “That head or body high that people are familiar with can come from cannabis or marijuana. We have products that will have that. . . . We also have products that don’t.”
Brandl said they will educate customers about the products, how they might interact with alcohol and be responsible with their use.
“Obviously, responsible consumption is really important and just understanding your body and how it’s going to affect you and making sure you’re safe while you’re having fun,” Brandl said.
Texas Live did not respond to a request for comment.
Arlington police said they encourage buyers and users of CBD products to learn about state law regarding allowable THC contents.
They also remind people that marijuana remains an illegal substance in Texas, and those who possess, manufacture or distribute it are subject to criminal charges and penalties under state law.
