Thailand:
Since the cannabis plant was removed from the list of banned drugs, production of cannabis products has skyrocketed in Southeast Asia. Legalizing marijuana in Thailand on Thursday is a dream come true for previous smokers
The idea that Thailand is becoming a marijuana paradise is reinforced by a plan by the public health minister to distribute 1 million marijuana seedlings.
Thailand is the first country in Asia to decriminalize marijuana for medical and industrial use as a result of the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to declassify the entire plant as a narcotic. However, this does not follow the example of Uruguay and Canada, which so far are the only nations that have legalized marijuana for recreational use nationwide.
Aside from registering to do so and saying it is for medical purposes, it currently appears that there will be no effort to monitor what people are allowed to grow and smoke at home.
Fans of Thailand bought marijuana at a coffee shop that previously only offered items made with non-intoxicating parts of the plant. The Highland Café offered a variety of shoots with names such as sugar cane, chewing gum, purple afghan and UFOs for a dozen visitors who arrived early.
The Thai government has issued a warning to those who want to smoke for fun. stating that doing so could still be considered a nuisance and could result in a 3-month prison sentence and a 25,000 baht ($ 780) fine. Marijuana extracts, such as oil, are still banned if they contain more than 0.2 percent of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.
According to Professor Sarna Somano of the Department of Plant and Soil Science at Chiang Mai University, visitors should be careful until the guidelines are clear after the passage of a new cannabis law. So far, thousands of small farmers have registered to grow cannabis legally, and many more are believed to be experimenting with unregistered domestic farms. If the law is left liberal, experts predict that the Thai cannabis market could soon be worth several billion dollars a year.
Owners of factories that produce high-quality CBD oil, large corporations that have bought land for plantations, and wellness centers that expect to receive treatment from around the world are expected to absorb most of it. .
