As well as being the new creative director of Diet Coke, the supermodel last week announced the launch of her new beauty and wellness brand Cosmoss. She teased the release through a series of spirited posts on her own Instagram page (@cosmoss), one of which shows her looking fabulous, wading into an altogether harder lake.
Kate seems to be very much in touch with her spiritual side these days. “Cosmoss is self-care created for life’s modern journeys, based on the extraordinary experience of Kate Moss,” an initial post read.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, she explained that her newly adopted healthy lifestyle is based on the Turkish wellness retreat she’s been visiting to detox for the past 10 years. Now she does yoga several times a week and takes gong baths in the living room of her Cotswolds home.
Each product in the range “has been painstakingly crafted with wellbeing in mind; each ritual opens a door to balance, restoration and love,” a second post read.
Kate has teamed up with London-based homeopath Victoria Young to develop the six-product range including teas, creams, CBD drops and aura sprays, while her hairstylist James Brown is a creative consultant. As the products drop today on the Cosmoss website, here are some of the actual products and ingredients you can expect from the range (prices TBC).
Cosmos Dawn Tea
The entire product line is inspired by Kate’s daily wellness rituals, starting with Dawn tea that is said to “gently energize and strengthen the body.” It is inspired by its Oxfordshire garden, with a blend of natural healing ingredients such as hibiscus, rosemary and nettle. Its counterpart, the Dusk Tea, contains butterfly pea and fennel for digestion and is “the color of the sky here around seven o’clock,” he told his cottage magazine.
The Sacred Mist by Cosmoss
Next, a “frightening, uplifting and sensual” sacred mist, which sounds a bit like an aura spray and is described as “a unique eau de parfum blended with essential oils for the body and environment.” Okay, so we’re intrigued…
Cosmoss facial cream
Then there’s the “rejuvenating, nourishing, hydrating” Face Cream. “I’m obsessed with washing my face,” Kate told Vogue. The face cream has been personally tested on James, who suffered from “soul-destroying” skin inflammation. The formula is enriched with botanical extracts to nourish and reduce the effect of oxidative stress.
The Golden Nectar by Cosmoss
Golden Nectar contains a winning formula of pro-collagen and drops of CBD oil to “provide comprehensive support for the body, mind and soul.” Of the latter, Kate says: “I use it to take the edge off instead of having a glass of wine. I find it very calming.”
Cosmos ingredient focus: oakmoss
Meanwhile, a separate post revealed that “oak moss”, a species of lichen that grows on the trunk and branches of oak trees in the northern hemisphere, is apparently a “core ingredient” for the entire Cosmoss range. According to Vogue, the extract found in the facial cream and cleanser is a complex of three wild Icelandic plants developed by Young. It nourishes, moisturizes, softens, firms and increases elasticity, says the brand.
Cosmos Ingredients Focus: “Mythical Tears of Chios”
Then there is “Mythical Tears of Chios”, also known as “latex”, a plant resin found in the sap of mastic trees that are native to the Greek island of Chios. It is the central ingredient of Nectar d’Or, and supposedly “reactivates cells and detoxifies the skin”
