A thief has admitted to stealing £ 1,200 worth of cannabis oil from a Northampton pharmacy.
John Diggin of Greenfield Avenue, Northampton, broke into Lloyds Pharmacy on Park Avenue North to steal the drug on May 17 last year.
The 51-year-old man entered the store and stole CBD oil, which is made from cannabis, worth £ 1,200.

He was later arrested and charged with robbery with theft of which he later pleaded guilty in Northampton Magistrates’ Court.
At a hearing this week (January 18), Diggin was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the crime.

Within this time he will have to complete 25 days of rehabilitation and will have a curfew from 7 to 7 in the morning for the first eight weeks.
He was also ordered to pay £ 300 in compensation to Lloyds Pharmacy as the oil was never recovered.
CBD oil is an expensive drug that can be prescribed to patients in the UK.
It is a chemical found in cannabis that has medical benefits.
However, it would not elevate a person as it contains very little or no THC.
The NHS says “very few” patients receive medical cannabis in that country.

Currently, it is only prescribed to children and adults with rare and severe forms of epilepsy, adults with vomiting or nausea caused by chemotherapy, and people with muscle stiffness and spasms caused by multiple sclerosis (MS).
They also advise that CBD oil should only be considered “when other treatments were not appropriate or had not helped” and can only be prescribed by a specialist doctor instead of a GP.
However, there are activists who believe that cannabis oils should be used more regularly in medicine.
They say it could be used to relieve pain, help with mental health disorders and regulate blood pressure.
The government says not enough research has been done on these benefits for the NHS to use at this time.
