A CBD company that falsely claimed to have its headquarters in Kelowna, among other lies, is under investigation and has been suspended from selling its products.

In an email sent Monday to its customers, Okanagan CBD admitted that it was unlicensed, falsely advertised its products and lied about its headquarters in Okanagan.

“We currently manufacture and ship all of our products from a home office / kitchen in Calgary, Alberta,” Okanagan CBD said in his email.

“We understand that we’ve been lying to our clients about this. But when it comes to the law, it’s important that you understand that we’re actually based in Calgary and we don’t have an office or operate in Kelowna. We’ve lied about where we operate for being able to market us “Okanagan CBD” as this helped us to rank higher in the Google pages, which in turn produced us with more sales (sic) ”.

The company says it is “undergoing an official local investigation,” but it is unclear which agency is investigating them. Health Canada says it is not investigating the company. Castanet has contacted Okanagan CBD about the investigation, but the company did not respond at the time of publication.

“While this investigation is underway, we will be forced to close our doors until everything is thoroughly investigated,” Okanagan told CBD in his email.

“Not only are we suspended from selling CBD products online and in stores for a year, but we will also have to be a fully licensed CBD company before we can resell CBD products. We look forward to having a full license and a backup in October 2022 “.

The company says it currently has no license to sell, manufacture, produce or market CBD.

“Previously we wanted to get our license, but it’s very expensive and we couldn’t,” Okanagan CBD says.

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound that comes from the cannabis plant. It is used for a variety of purposes, including pain, anxiety, and stress relief.

On its website, Okanagan CBD advertises a number of CBD products made with “100% organic hemp grown in North America”. But the company now says it has been supplying its CBD from China and other countries.

“We realized we had lied about our farming practices and where our CBD is grown and manufactured,” the company says. “We hope that in the future you can forgive us and continue working with us once this investigation is resolved.”

The company also admits to lying about selling “broad-spectrum CBD oil.”

“We wanted to sell broad-spectrum products but we couldn’t produce them. Unfortunately, all of our packaging was already done, so instead of wasting money and throwing away our packaging, we used it and were forced to lie to the our customers “.

Despite talk of its suspicious business practices in its email to customers, Okanagan CBD’s website remains active and accepts orders starting Wednesday.
