Best Products to Help You Sleep

I take my sleep routine very seriously. As a lifelong insomniac, I’ve discovered that having a reflective nighttime setup is key to getting a good night’s sleep. Not surprisingly, going to bed and waking up at constant hours, avoiding caffeine after noon, keeping the room dark and quiet with the help of white noise and, yes, some how many unique sleeping products (and adjacent to sleep). These are some of the best products to help you sleep better (at least in my opinion) and I’ve tried and reviewed each and every one of them, so I think they can help you too.

The Prejoc

Kindle Paperwhite e-reader

This affordable e-reader includes a built-in adjustable light that allows you to read comfortably at night or during the day. In addition, it reduces eye fatigue.

Before going to bed, it is important to limit exposure to artificial light that can alter melatonin production. But when the sun sets so soon, what to do? In addition to installing a filter on my computer (I use f.lux), indoor sunlight is a key tool in my arsenal. It emits natural light that mimics sunlight, which is ideal for both seasonal affective disorders during the day and soft light at night that will not wake you up. It looks like a natural candle light, only it helps you look better, no smoke.

Perhaps what changed the game the most for me, when I went to sleep, was finally giving in and getting an e-reader. The Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader allows me to relax reading in the dark before going to bed, without any light inducing an alert.

Sensually asleep

Womanizer Premium sex toy to suck clit

This vibrator that mimics oral sex is ideal for playing alone or with your partner.

Personally, I sleep naked; it’s best to regulate body temperature and not wake me up with sweat. But when I’m in bed, big pajamas can help indicate that it’s time to go to bed. I love these comfy Carve Designs pajamas, while my boyfriend enjoys his ridiculously soft Bedfellows nightgown.

Also useful for good sleep is having an orgasm. Okay, maybe not before bed, unless it works for you, but a few hours before. My favorites are The Womanizer, this vibrator that mimics oral sex that lives up to its somewhat ridiculous name, and LELO’s Nea 2 for use during penetrating or solo sex. Sweet dreams, really.

CBD or not CBD

Sunday Scares CBD Sleeping oils

If you use CBD oil to help you sleep, it really works.

I used to be a CBD skeptic, but as long as it’s accompanied by a slight amount of THC to “activate” it, these products can really work for sleep. If CBD oral solutions are your jam, my favorites are Sunday Scaries CBD Sleep Oil, which does the trick most nights I struggle with insomnia and leaves little to the hangover.

A little stronger is Kin Slips Shut Eye Strips, which I use often when traveling, or if I have a migraine. So far, they are the only product that has worked in those nights that affect migraines and help me sleep to recover.

In the room

Huggaroo weighted heating pad

Simply put this soothing wrapper in the microwave and it will be ready to use in minutes.

The human body usually responds calmly to gentle, constant pressure. This is why hugs feel good and why babies experience relief while wrapping. While heavy blankets make me claustrophobic, I like Hugaroo’s heavy neck wrap to soothe muscle aches and tension in the neck and shoulders with relaxing aromatherapy and warmth. (And if you really have tension in your neck, consider trying the HeadFloater, a small device that stretches your tech neck satisfactorily, before you go to bed).

The NodPod sleep mask is my favorite to meditate on in bed for a few minutes while I drift. You can use it all night, but I usually change my sleeping blanket to sleep on my side, which is comfortable and turns off all the light.

Make your room even more impenetrable with the Dyson Pure Cool Tower fan, which creates a nice white noise, a cool breeze that you can adjust with minimal light and purifies the air around you. The smart fan controls indoor pollution you can’t see in real time with an LCD screen and then reacts automatically using a unique Dyson algorithm, with a fully sealed filter system that captures 99.97 percent of allergens and microscopic contaminants.

As someone who was recently diagnosed with asthma and has allergies, having the fan certified for asthma and allergies is key, which is why I also like these mite-proof pillows. National Allergy BedCare All Cotton. You can add even more allergy protection with Protect to Bed AllerZip Smooth Pillow Protectors. Wash them at least once a month and the sheets once a week with warm water for the best sleep and allergy protection.

That said, few sheets can withstand so much washing with hot water; the cheapest ones I bought tend to drop after a few months. But Pact’s favorite organic sheets, I can attest, have remained soft and shiny for me after six months of weekly washing in a hot water machine and still show no signs of pilling or use. And if you want something even more luxurious, try Nollapelli sheets, which are made from a new fabric scientifically designed to restore and protect your skin and hair. It’s worth the investment.

And speaking of investments, the vegan avocado mattress is also worth the initial cost, if you can move it. It’s organic, non-toxic, “climate-neutral” and totally vegan. I am very picky with my mattresses, but I can attest that since I started sleeping with this one, my back and neck have been much happier and my sleep is solid.
