Report Shows Over Half Of CBD Products Are Mislabeled

A new report from a peer-reviewed dog watch website shows that more than half of cannabidiol (CBD) products are mislabeled.

On Thursday, Leafreport, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, released the review, which included products they tested in 2021.

Leafreport Product Manager Lital Shafir says the mission of the review was to send products for third-party testing and compare the results with the amount and type of CBD shown on the label.

Inaccuracies in labeling abound

The results of the review showed that 60% of the products tested showed a variation of more than 10% in CBD levels.

In addition, 28 percent of the products had a variation of more than 30 percent and, on average, the actual CBD content differs from the label by almost 25 percent.

Leafreport says the drinks had the worst results, with only 18 percent of the products matching the label and two products containing no CBD.

Of the 97 products that claimed to contain broad-spectrum or full-spectrum CBD, 44 percent had inaccurate labeling and more products scored an F than an A in the beverage, topical, and edible categories.

When comparing actual amounts of CBD with labels, products had to be within 10 percent of the label content to receive an A grade.

Products with a CBD content that differed from the label by a higher percentage received a B, C or F rating.

“Leafreport’s goal is to help promote transparency in the CBD industry and educate consumers so that they can access safe products and deliver the advertised content,” says Shafir. “Reports like this show that the industry still has a long way to go in terms of meeting acceptable standards for consumers. We hope that reports like this will help educate those who want to use CBD and inform them more about their decisions. buy “.

Leafreport shipped a total of 221 CBD products from 111 brands for testing, including 3 CBD oil, 40 clichés, 40 groceries, 22 beverages, 55 pet and 29 coffee and tea products.
