The Grand Forks Herald sat down with Faye Pederson of Faye’s Humble Roots for 5 questions this week.
Q: How did you start your business?
A: Unfortunately, it was due to a family tragedy. We had lost a family member to suicide, and this is a life-changing thing for a small family. I went to my therapist to help me with this situation, and she suggested that I try CBD, because pharmaceutical medicine didn’t work well for me. So he recommended a company called Humble Roots that was out of Oregon, and it was an organic, affordable CBD oil that I trusted, so I started using it and bought it for my friends and family because works great for me.
I had tried pharmaceuticals, and they just didn’t work for me. I was in Ambien for 14 years. It was too long to be with a sleeping medicine, and CBD was the way I was able to get out of a pharmaceutical drug, not that I was against pharmaceuticals, because there is definitely a reason for the medication, but that was a natural way. for me to be healed.
It was right after the farm bill in 2018, and the owners of Humble Roots, a small Oregon women-owned business, asked me if I wanted to be their first wholesaler, and I said, “Well, I’m sure I can. “Because I work in a CPA business and I’m here all the time I can do it from work. full time job.
Q: What are some of the reasons people can buy CBD products?
A: They come mainly from anxiety and pain, sleep problems and neuropathy. I have a lot of THC-free products, I have nurses, doctors and first responders who are tested for drugs at random, so I have products available for people who have been tested. Then, for people who can’t get medical cannabis, I have stronger CBD oils and lotions that help these customers, and everything is affordable and organic.
Q: What types of different CBD products do you sell?
A: All my oils are grown on the shelves, so they are not processed in a factory, and in fact I also have an oil that is made locally in the Red River Valley. I sell oils, I sell smoky flowers, I sell SAV for pain. I sell CBD water. I have three different types of jelly beans to choose from; Broad spectrum isolate, meaning THC free, pure CBD and then full spectrum. The full spectrum means that there is 0.3% THC, which helps relieve pain.
Q: Do marijuana laws affect your business?
A: I just registered as a company. It’s not marijuana. It is made of hemp. The hemp plant and that went all over the United States through the Farm Bill in 2018. My only requirement is that you be 21 years old or older to shop at my store.
Q: Has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your business?
A: He did. I did a lot of vendor exhibits through Grand Forks / East Grand Forks vendor craft shows. They do a vendor show at the VFW in East Grand Forks. It used to be at the Columbia Mall, but all of those shows were shut down, so that limited my way of advertising. I also closed my store to the public, but made more use of my website and then made a contactless delivery, contactless pickup, and free shipping until March of this year. No matter how much you spend, I would send it to you for free.
